16 June – 27 August 2022 Chinese and India Nannies in Hackney: The Home for Ayahs and Amahs
This display uncovers some of the hidden stories of Chinese amahs and India ayahs employed to look after British households during the colonial period. Between 1900 to 1940s hundreds of these women lived at the Ayahs’ and Amahs’ home in Hackney.
